Thanksgiving Feast Celebration!

Today was the annual Thanksgiving Feast Celebration at Jacob's Preschool. The program was funny and the food was great, as usual. Here are the pictures from the program. For those that want to download the pictures, you should be able to right click on the picture and click "save image as" to download them to your computer. If you have trouble just let me know and I will do something different.

A Jacob Funny

Wow! I know...two posts in one day. But I just had to write this down before I forgot. Yesterday while picking up Jacob and Jack from preschool I hear that my 5 year old son is getting married! Yep, seems that Jacob has a girlfriend and they are getting married. Her name is Morgan. And not only that, after they get married they are going to have a baby. And it's a girl. What's even funnier is the length to which they have planned. You see Morgan has a sister named Madison. So the baby will have two Aunt Madisons. But have no fear they have already figured out that one will be called Aunt Madison and the other will be called Aunt Maddie! I asked Jacob when they were planning on getting married and he said they would wait until they had "grown up". I was glad to hear that! This morning I was telling Michael about the whole marriage thing and Jacob looks at me and says "we're just practicing right now"!

Halloween Happenings

Halloween has come and gone. The kids had sooo much fun! We started out the Halloween festivities (I refuse to call it a holiday because it is not a day I normally get off from work, therefore it is not a "holiday") by carving our pumpkins. Jacob decided he wanted a Captain Hook pumpkin. He then "helped" Madison pick out Pablo from the Backyardigans for her pumpkin. Here are our pumpkin pics...

I also carved an "Old Smokey" pumpkin for our neighbors that I didn't get a picture of. I know, I know...it goes against everything in me as an Alabama fan. But they are HUGE Tennessee fans and they are really good friends. I do have a confession...I don't think I could have carved that pumpkin if we hadn't beat them the weekend before. (Roll Tide!)

The next night we had our Trunk or Treat at our church. Maddie was "Big Al" (or I guess I should say "Little Al") and Jacob was "Captain Hook".

My favorite "trunk" was the Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe". Christie was the witch, David was the lion, and they had their trunk decorated as the wardrobe. Best part...they served hot chocolate! Here's a good picture of David. Unfortunately I didn't get one of the witch or the wardrobe.

Jacob decided Wednesday morning that he didn't want to be Captain Hook anymore. He wanted to be Darth Vader. He eventually decided to be Red Power Ranger after realizing his Darth Vader suit was still too big. Maybe next year. Then that night we had our annual hayride through the neighborhood. The kids had fun trick or treating. Maddie even got the hang of it, although her favorite part was the "ride".

I Don't Dance - HSM2 (Movie Version)

Just call me Chad...

At our house High School Musical 2 is BIG! Jacob and Madison both LOVE IT! Jacob is really into Troy, even wants to dress like him in his black wind pants and black shirt. Maddie loves to hear the music and dance. Jacob even knows some of the moves to the dances (Maddie tries to follow along, too, which makes for some great entertainment at the house). So needless to say we watch HSM2 a lot! My favorite part is the baseball scene when Ryan is trying to get Chad to be in the year end musical and Chad refuses, saying "I don't dance".

I love the song. Like the beat, like the lyrics, and it has a baseball theme. Why wouldn't I love it? It's one of those songs that you can't sit still when you hear it. Michael, being the one who has to find fault with every TV show or movie, is not a big fan of the scene. Too many errors in the scene. I'll have to admit there are some aspects of the scene that are a bit "off". Besides the obvious ones, the fact that all through the movie Chad dances but all of a sudden he "don't dance". Cracks me up. But never would I have ever dreamed that I, too, would share Chad's sentiments. Not with dancing. With singing. Sunday morning after church, our worship leader, Tom, made a comment to me that I should start singing with the praise team at church. My reply was, you guessed it, "I DON'T SING". I couldn't believe that those words came out of my mouth. I mean I sing, but I don't SING. I don't read music. I'm not an alto. I'm not a soprano. I am a follower. I sing whatever I hear. Sometimes its alto, soprano, tenor, harmony, whatever. A lot of times its all of those in one song. I just follow along. And I'm not saying it's good (just glad that God's ears aren't like ours.) Obviously Tom has never sat in front of me at church or he would have probably agreed with me.

As many times as I have seen the movie I never understood what Chad was saying...until Sunday. Now I totally get "I Don't Dance".

Homecoming

For those of you that don't get to visit the Capstone very often...This is especially for Andrea. I know how she loves the University (and photography) and lives in Vol land! So here's your fix...

I was talking with a friend today about living here in this college town. I don't know what we'd do if we didn't live here. Seems like life would be boring! Until next time.....ROLLLL TIDE!!!

Jacob's made it to the BIG LEAGUES!!!

Well not really...just to Kentuck. Which to Jacob and all other 5 year olds waiting to play t-ball it's all the same. Last night was their first game. He, along with his other teammates, were so excited. They won their first game 10-8. Jacob had 2 hits, scored twice, and had a double play. He had a great time, to say the least! Today is his 5th birthday, so the team snack will be birthday cupcakes, baseball cupcakes, to be exact! Here are a couple of pictures from last night's game...enjoy and GOOO RANGERS!

Tooth Fairy & Skid Row

I guess you can tell partly what this post will be about...our first visit from the tooth fairy! Jacob lost his first tooth last Thursday.

He was brushing his teeth and out it came. Really kinda uneventful ( and I was glad). He was very excited!!! So that night I had to hunt for his tooth fairy bank that Michael's mom had given him eons ago. The next morning the tooth fairy had left Jacob a baseball tooth card with $7 inside. I know, I know... $7 is a strange number but there is a reason. He got a $5 bill and a $2 bill. The fairy always left me a $2 bill and I wanted to continue that tradition. So he is saving the $2 bill in his bank and he can spend the other $5.

Now on to the Skid Row part of the post...while out playing in the rain last Saturday night Madison got into a little fight with the sidewalk. She did not win. Poor thing her nose looked awful! I didn't get a picture of it before the big scab came off because I didn't have my camera for a week (that's a whole other story) but here's one of her yesterday with her nose still red.

Back from vacation and lots of changes

We recently returned from Orange Beach. This was Jacob and Madison's first trip to the beach. Jacob loved every aspect of the beach except for the walk to the ocean. You see, even though we stayed on the beach we still had a long walk to the water and he said "it takes too long to get there". He would have been just fine with going to the pool. Except at night. Then he was ready to go catch sand crabs and any other creature on the sand. He especially liked going up to complete strangers and asking them "ya'll caught anything?". Maddie liked the beach and playing in the sand but wasn't real crazy about the water "coming up to get her". Michael was in class all day so it was just me a the chitlins during the day. We did get to go on a dinner cruise that was a lot of fun. Michael has some of the pictures that we took on his flickr account. But here is my fav...

Other updates with JR and MR...
Jacob has a loose tooth and with good reason...there is another tooth that is coming in right behind it. He loves to show me how he can wiggle his tooth and frankly it wigs me out!

Maddie has learned some new words and loves to fake being hurt when you try to take something away from her. She starts screaming "ooowww, ooowwww". Such a drama queen. Last night I heard Jacob telling her to SIT. I went into the kitchen and miss priss was sitting in the middle of the kitchen table.

In other news...there have been a lot of changes at work. You can read about those changes here. I have a new boss, new (and bigger) office, new work hours (7-4) and a new job title. Actually its not a glamorous as it sounds. I am still doing most of the same things that I did before but it is taking some time to adjust to the new digs. But I like the job that I do, love my new office and work hours, and like the people that I work with and that's all that matters!

And tonight I will start getting ready for a Bridesmaids Brunch that will be at our house for Lindsay. She is such a sweet person and we (me, Tes, and Emily) wanted to do something special for her and her 'maids before the big day. It will be loads of fun!

My Rammblings

OK...after much duress...I, too, have entered the blogging world. For a longtime I have been a lurker and have even posted on others' blogs on some occasions. Sometimes I have thought IF I had a blog I would write about "this" or "that" and sometimes I have thought I would have nothing to blog about. Anyway...here it goes...my attempt at blogging.

With all of that said, last night Jacob learned to ride his bike without training wheels. This is all thanks to neighborhood friend Jack Hill who learned to ride his bike on Saturday. Andrew, another neighborhood friend, also learned to ride last night. Shout out to Mary (Jack's mom) for being a great teacher and to her trusty assistant, Johnny! I will try to post pictures, if I can figure that out!

Jacob and Mary

As for Madison, she is walking EVERYWHERE! She is a lot of fun and LOVES her big brother. Here is a picture of her walking to the Hills to play and watch the big boys ride.

This weekend we spent time catching up with friends from Memphis. We were so excited to meet their new daughter, Sophie. Here's a picture of the kids playing.

I will try to add a link to the rest of my pictures later.
